Goofy little things that I notice.

I have the Movable Type site, as one of my regular visits. I like to look at new & updated blogs, so I just pop over and see who’s updated probably once and hour, every hour I’m online. For the past few days, the Seinfeld Blog has been listed in the “Recently Updated” list probably more than 80-95% of the time. I looked at it a couple of times thinking, “this dude must be blogging lots”. But every time I click on the link, it’s a Dec 15th post.
Is the list going wonky or is it something else?
I’ve taken some screenshots, to give you an example of what I’m seeing.
*update* I closed the comments, because I think I figured out what happened….

  1. He probably has a cronjob set to ping the MovableType site. Since their script doesn’t check to see if the page has been updated, his site magically appears on the list each time. It’s just another pathetic form of spam.

  2. Ok….I think I figured everything out. Not spam, nothing too strange. Seinfeld Characters is really a mt comment form that posts to a weblog. In the xml file, it shows the updates, but the main page doesn’t. So it’s just an open comments section, that happens to rebuild the blog when one’s added.
    Sorry.

  3. I don’t know if I would go that far. The blog doesn’t appear to be “spamish”, and would hate to put that label on anyone. It looks like a legit weblog to me.
I’ll look into more about it later…..strange.
