Hillsboro Village

May 20th, 2005

I have to agree with Lynette, the campus and the community around Belmont was wonderful. I didn’t really have a good college experience, as mine was spread among two colleges and numerous sabbaticals for things like work and having no funds and now no time. But walking around the Belmont campus, made me really kinda regret not standing up against my family and going away to College.
But away from that, the area around there has some great little places to eat and just nice little residences. I’m keeping in the back of my hat for when I finally settle down, the Hillsboro Village section of Nashville will be on that list….along with Savannah and San Diego.
But yeah, it’s a very nice little area that’s tucked away (literally two minutes) from the city and the interstate freeway system, but it harkens back to times I’ve only heard about, nice neighborhoods and friendly people.

BlogNashville Afterthoughts

May 8th, 2005

OK LAST POST ON THIS…

I decided that I’ll probably never carry a laptop into a session on blogging ever again. I think a lot of the people who brought laptops in, were either not listening to the topics, half-listening or blogging around the whole time and I caught myself doing all of that. I went to the sessions and usually got something out of it. In the case of Henry’s money session, I came to the realization that when you have a room full of people who are bloggers, basically people who want their opinion out there, you really can’t get a word in edgewise. You had people in there who said that they’d never have an ad or you had some guy from Amnesty Int…..if you don’t want to post ads, then why are you in a money session?

A Respectful Disagreement

May 8th, 2005

Les Jones: Dave Winer’s “A Respectful Disagreement” at BlogNashville
I’ll add more to this later, I just got in, but the session was in fact like this. At one point the person next to me leaned in and said “This is classic”. Honestly, it was the Dave we heard so much about in real life. I introduced myself afterwards and told him I disagree with him on almost anything, but that I respected him enough to put that aside and listen to his take on this subject. Afterwards everyone was under the same canopy having a drink.
Dave’s take on the class…also the post below that, i was sitting at the next table as this was going on….between that and some awesome Thai food, not a bad thing.
Like I said, more later…it’s sleepy time.

break in the party

May 6th, 2005

Ok there shouldn’t be any blogging during a party of bloggers, but there is……..yep I’m such a nerd. But it’s an interesting group, one minute you’re looking at Dave Winer working the room, theb you see Nick, who created TopStyle, then you see LaShaun then you see Henry and all of the assorted blogged rs in the room. I’m sitting down now, taking a break because the G and T is a little too strong….ok back to the party.

It’s on!

May 4th, 2005

blognashvilleAs it stands now, I will still be attending BlogNashville this Friday and Saturday and I’m really looking forward to meeting some of you face to face. Hell even Dave Winer is gonna be there, but I’m forgoing dinner with him to meet up with Henry Copeland of Blogads. Maybe I can get some of the Chattablogs crew to come along.

I’ve emailed with Henry for a few years and helped test out early css versions of Blogads, so meeting him and listening about his and other’s ideas on making money will be nice.

I will be officially representing Drumblog! and our related sites as well as gathering ideas for the future.
