On Multiculturalism

April 28th, 2006

I have no problem with the national anthem being sung in a different language. I have a problem with words being changed. We’re still a melting point, more than ever. If you’re an American, you’re bringing your culture to this national soup. Part of that is language…..

I honestly and truly believe that if an American wants to sing the anthem it’s a matter of honor for that person to translate it in their native tongue.

Want to make it more “American”? I’d love to hear a version of the anthem sung in as many different languages as possible. Lets hear a suni-german-spanish-thai-urdu-filipino-cherokee-english version with a arabic-french-somali-navaho-gaelic version as a b-side.

Dear John,

April 20th, 2006

{Kerry ‘thinking hard’ about 2008 run for president} – Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said on Thursday he was seriously thinking about another White House bid in 2008 and will decide before the year is out.

Mr. Kerry, I would plead that you seriously not even think about running. The Democratic party has just sat back and allowed weak candidates to become their front runners, when we (as a country) need someone strong to challenge this millennium’s current leadership as well as lead our country to move beyond this pit of vipers we currently have in the White House.

Please step aside douchebag and allow someone like Senator John Edwards, your former running mate, have his chance to lead.

With Best Regards,
Sacred Cow Tipping

Where’s V When You Need Him?

April 9th, 2006

{Boing Boing: Hersh: Bush plans for Iran attack include nuke option} – “He went on, “Nuclear planners go through extensive training and learn the technical details of damage and fallout–we’re talking about mushroom clouds, radiation, mass casualties, and contamination over years. This is not an underground nuclear test, where all you see is the earth raised a little bit. These politicians don’t have a clue, and whenever anybody tries to get it out”–remove the nuclear option–”they’re shouted down.”"

This kinda strikes home…or at least my thoughts. Evie and I went to see “V for Vendetta” last night and it’s an awesome movie. How this strikes me, is that (in the movie) they used attacks on their own people to bring fear and to take attention off of what was really happening. As we look at Iran as a possible target, it’s just something else to make us take away attention from all of the loss of liberties our quagmire in Iraq and things like wiretapping.

Instead of being the world’s police, we need to work on what issues we currently have abroad and then start to look internally.

Roe v. Wade v. Dakota

March 10th, 2006

{Activists launch ‘Roe v. Wade for Men’ – U.S. Life – MSNBC.com} – “The National Center for Men has prepared a lawsuit — nicknamed Roe v. Wade for Men — to be filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Michigan on behalf of a 25-year-old computer programmer ordered to pay child support for his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. The suit addresses the issue of male reproductive rights, contending that lack of such rights violates the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection clause.”

I’m gonna say it like this, and it’s only half facetious. The big backers of this law will be the rich male representatives from more anti-choice “pro-life” states. While this doesn’t have a chance in hell…currently. I really really really expect this to be an issue in 15 years. Mark it down in the back of your mind, and the first state aside from California or New York or Vermont, will probably be one of those wacky Dakotas.

“Holy shit, that’s D____”

March 7th, 2006

I was watching the Daily Show last night, and they were rehashing the press conference (video) with Harry about his release from the hospital. So, I’m sitting there and all of a sudden, I realize I know one of the people on the screen. Seems like one of my friends (a former strategic VP & “one of the good ones”) from Erlanger, is now working for the hospital that took care of Cheney’s victim.

With Friggin’ Lasers

March 2nd, 2006

{Defense Tech: Sharks = Spies?} – “That’s the thinking, I guess, behind the Pentagon’s decision to fund research into brain implants that could one day lead to sharks becoming “‘stealth spies,’ capable of gliding undetected through the ocean.

Seriously, we’re looking at making sharks into friggin’ “spies”? We can’t fund a lot of things, like better schools, but we’re spending goverment time and money on creating shark mutants? WTF? No seriously, WTF?

Riots in Ireland

February 27th, 2006

{Rioting on O’Connell Street} – “The planned “Love Ulster” unionist march in Dublin today was the scene of violent clashes as republican demonstrators attempted to block the route on O’Connell Street. Riot police separating marchers from demonstrators were bombarded with missiles and the street was the scene of pitched battles as Gardaí attempted to move the protesters down the street. An hour and a half after the march was scheduled to start there was still no movement from the starting point on Parnell Square and efforts by the Gardaí to approach demonstrators from the rear were met with more violence.”

CNN.com – Driving tip: Don’t honk at the cops – Feb 24, 2006

Why I love my hometown. Drive here for a week, you’ll see the problem. It *was* abuse of authority..hell the cops around here can kill a man, so why do you think a traffic ticket will be tossed?

{Libby Legal Defense Trust} – “Since September 11, 2001, Lewis “Scooter” Libby has been one of the unsung heroes in fighting the war on terror, working diligently and making countless contributions on some of the most critical life and death issues that our country has faced.”

Are you fucking kidding me?

Yeah, lets get people on your side. Why not have average joe’s as your advisory committee instead of all of these politicians? You’re a person, not a company. Why have an advisory committee?

As seen on Drudge

Yeah, Matt, but did he shoot anybody? Hmm, lets compare…..what’s worse? The VP shooting someone or a Senator having a stroke.
