I agree. Eva Cassidy had one of the most profoundly beautiful and versatile voices (she could sing all genres) of our time.

Perhaps if we all continue to tell people about her, she will become more widely known.

Thanks for this post!

It's been ages, but if Chaco and Eddie are still running the coffee shop in the Doctor's Building on McCallie Ave you might check to see if Chaco is still home-baking her pies.

Like Reid, I too have given up on MT. I moved away from 3.x during the great comment spam deluge of '05 and never looked back except for a recent evaluation of MT4 (which I find bloated and overly complex).

I have never been big on WordPress. The template system, to me, lacks elegance and I may as well use raw PHP.

I like blogging tools that have an intuitive tag set, like Textpattern. I want the site requirements and design to be paramount and both MT and WordPress tend to constrict the process. I find myself building 'around' the CMS.

Textpattern lets me build the site while only using the features of the CMS that I need. I want to add the components that I need rather than rip out what I'll never use.

You appear to have left out one CMS, Textpattern. I suppose you face the same problem if access to MySQL is an issue. But, to me, it a light and flexible presence compared to the other options.

I dropped out of MT when they hit 3.0. I've never like Wordpress. I use Textpattern most of the time, and Expression Engine when there are heftier requirements, like member login and protected areas.

But beyond those "Big Four," the options are indeed limited.

If the craving is hitting you that hard, then you should definitely learn how to make pie! In my experience, fillings are not particularly complicated, but crusts take care & patience. I have this vague recollection of an episode of America's Test Kitchen on pie crusts that might be worth hunting down. :) And if you have shindigs at work that involve bringing food, you'll blow people away with a well-made pie.

508 should be mandatory but it's not, the previous version wasn't. CMS worries more about getting their announcements online within a certain amount of hours, we built two apps (the flash and an asp) to handle that. There are financial penalties for late announcements.

Yeah, getting to 508 is really just because of how we call the Flash piece. The html is mainly the two forms.

Wow.

I am so sorry, I thought you were referring to this site.

Once I looked at Riverbend, I was slack-jawed and in awe. It's gorgeous and the the [X]HTML isn't bad -- if you go to 4.01 it's down to 19 errors. Seems to be <em>mostly</em> whitespace and case problems.

Like you said, tweaks. Though, I wonder about .508. Isn't that mandatory on a site such as this?
